Encaustic Monotype at the Oregon Coast!Exploiting the many surface textures of encaustic through printmakingSitka Center of Art & Ecology hosts June 11 & 12, 2010Elise Wagner and Master Printer Jane PagliaruloClick here for further details
Encaustic Monotype at Elise Wagner Studio & Atelier Meridian This particular introduction to encaustic is unique in a couple of ways; first, encaustic is applied to a plexiglas printing plate rather than the traditional birch panel; second, it merges water based non-toxic Aqua inks with encaustic’s natural resistance to moisture, making it ideal for printmaking. On the first day, participants will be able to create their printing plates and dabble on the side with encaustic. The possibilities combining encaustic texture with printmaking are endless! The second day, we head down the street to Jane’s printing studio at Atelier Meridian, to pull monotypes from the encaustic collagraphs. There, we will learn about the difference between intaglio and relief printing and apply water based inks. Participants are encouraged to bring any etching tools or brushes you like using. Two sheets of proofing paper included. Reives BFK and Arches 88 are available for purchase. You pay for what you use by the end of the workshop. October 16 & 17, 2010 November 13 & 14, 2010
