"Wagner Encaustics Handmade Paints are exceptional in every way. The colors are crisp and clean, like the Pyramid Yellow, and they are dense right out of the can. I use lots of yellow and this one is a pleasure to use. I diluted it for glazes and also tried it full strength, both ways worked wonderfully for me.

The Isis Red is gorgeous, lucious color and makes a great strong orange when mixed with the yellow. The Corfu Blue is a dense ultramarine that is dark and rich. Venetian red is a softer color reminiscent of the Pompeii red pencil that I have in my art box, more to the brownish side. Yellow Ochre is also a softer color for more subtle applications. The white and black are just as beautiful and with the basic red, yellow and blue and you could make any color you want.

Selling the paint already in a metal can, that can be placed right on the palette, is a stroke of genius. You can just pour some out to mix or dilute and the lids can also be used as containers. And when empty, you have extra cans in which to mix.
